The Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg: Interview with Dr. Manuel Fernandez

Shortly describe your professional career.

I am a lawyer admitted to the bar in France as well as to the bar in Luxembourg; I am a local partner in the banking and capital markets group of GSK Stockmann in Luxembourg. I advise banks, financial institutions and corporates on financial law and financing transactions, on the issue of debt and equity securities including stock exchange listings, securitisations, repackagings, high yield bonds, structured products and derivatives and related regulatory matters. I also represent them before Luxembourg courts.

Which activity does your company currently develop in Luxembourg?

GSK Stockmann is a leading independent European corporate law firm with over 250 professionals across our offices in Germany, Luxembourg and the UK.

GSK Stockmann in Luxembourg is the trusted adviser of leading financial institutions, asset managers, private equity houses, insurance companies, corporates and FinTech companies, with both, a local and international reach. Our lawyers advise domestic and international clients in relation to Banking & Finance, Capital Markets, Corporate/M&A and Private Equity, Investment Funds, Real Estate, Regulatory and Insurance as well as Tax.

What added value does your company offer in Luxembourg compared to its competitors?

Our firm is one of the few German law firms in Luxembourg. Our team is truly international with more than 50 lawyers, business services and staff from more than 10 jurisdictions speaking even more languages. While GSK Stockmann has offices in Germany, Luxembourg and the UK – we have recently opened our London office – we maintain close relationships with law firms in key jurisdictions around the world, who share our values and approach. This provides the flexibility to work with the most suitable international partner for each client and case. In relation to Spain, we have Spanish speaking lawyers with established relationships to Spanish law firms.

What services can you offer to other members of the Chamber?

We will be pleased to share our experience and know-how with the other members of the Chamber. We are also active in various other industry related organisations – in Luxembourg and internationally. Several members of our team can exchange with the members of the Chamber in Spanish if needed. Our Luxembourg office can be a legal partner of choice not only for Luxembourg business but also more international transactions.

The interview was published on the website of The Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg, which is a non-profit association whose main objective is the development of trade and investments between Spain, Belgium and Luxembourg.
