As part of its continued international strategy, GSK Stockmann announces the opening of an office in London, one of the world’s leading business and financial centres, creating new opportunities to strengthen the firm’s capabilities and international footprint.
Located in the centre of the banking district, the London office will be GSK Stockmann’s second international office after the opening of the Luxembourg office in 2016. The new location will be a key element in expanding GSK Stockmann’s business with international clients based in the UK, the USA and Asia and in fostering international relations. As of September 2022, the London team will advise on complex transactions structured via Luxembourg and Germany with regard to private equity, venture capital and real estate projects with a particular focus on the asset management and financial services industry.
The resident partners at the London office will be Andreas Dimmling as office co-head and Mark Butt, who will both be relocating from GSK Stockmann’s Munich office. Berlin-based partner Olaf Schmechel will also be joining the opening team as a non-resident partner. They will be launching the new office together with York-Alexander von Massenbach joining as partner and office co-head. York-Alexander von Massenbach was head of the London office of a German corporate law firm for the past nine years and will be joined by associate Leonora Plener. A core team of lawyers from GSK Stockmann’s German and Luxembourg offices will regularly be working out of London.
Oliver Glück, co-managing partner at GSK Stockmann, comments: “Our presence in London will give us a competitive advantage to meet increasing client demand and generate new business out of London – in particular for complex cross-border projects and transactions. We are delighted to have been able to put together a strong team of experienced partners for the London office and welcome York-Alexander von Massenbach, who will be a great benefit to our firm with his long-standing experience and ties to the UK market.”
“Following the firm’s decision in 2018 to redefine its international strategy and to position itself as a leading independent European corporate law firm, the opening of the London office plays a key role in moving our firm’s international strategy forward”, says international partner Andreas Heinzmann.
