Ready for take-off: Bringing Luxembourg creativity to the skies.
This year, the Luxembourg office of GSK Stockmann celebrates its 10th anniversary with a number of events throughout the year. To mark this milestone, GSK Stockmann and Luxair have partnered to unveil a special anniversary aircraft. The newly designed De Havilland Dash 8-400 LX-LQJ was formally presented during a special event at Luxair’s Maintenance Hangar at Luxembourg Airport, where representatives of both companies celebrated the unveiling together.
To bring this partnership to life, Luxembourg artist Sumo! created a distinctive livery under the theme “Going the extra mile. Above & beyond. Always!” in honour of GSK Stockmann’s 10th anniversary in Luxembourg – combining law, art and travel in a unique way. Both Luxair and GSK Stockmann have collaborated with Luxembourg artist Sumo! throughout the past years. In addition to the aircraft itself, the headrest covers, business lounge, and advertising materials also feature the design. The newly branded aircraft is planned to operate across Luxair’s European network, giving the GSK Stockmann brand further visibility.
Founded in 1961, Luxair is a key player in the economy of Luxembourg and the surrounding Greater Region. Luxair offers direct, convenient and reliable connections to more than 100 destinations across Europe and beyond, transporting over 2.6 million passengers in 2025. The airline combines a broad network from Luxembourg with high service standards, flexibility for business travel, and quality leisure travel experiences. As Luxembourg’s home airline, Luxair serves the country’s diverse international community and the Greater Region, connecting people with businesses, families, friends and destinations across its network. In addition, Luxair is a fully integrated partner of Miles & More, Europe’s leading frequent flyer program.
Gilles Feith, CEO of Luxair says: “At Luxair we are delighted to celebrate GSK Stockmann’s 10th anniversary in Luxembourg through this unique partnership. As organisations with strong roots in Luxembourg and a European outlook, we share a commitment to connecting people, businesses and ideas across borders. Bringing this partnership to life through a special aircraft featuring the work of Luxembourg artist Sumo! is a wonderful way to celebrate this milestone while showcasing Luxembourg creativity across our European network.”
Known for his dynamic contemporary art, Sumo! comments: “I am proud to have been part of GSK Stockmann’s journey in Luxembourg and honoured to contribute to this milestone with this project that quite literally takes GSK Stockmann’s journey to new heights. Congratulations to GSK Stockmann and Luxair for this partnership.”
Andreas Heinzmann, Partner at GSK Stockmann in Luxembourg says: “We are excited to see this aircraft bring our partnership with Luxair to life. We would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone whose passion and commitment have made this possible. The fact that Luxair connects us with clients and partners across Europe will motivate us even more to push ourselves to going the extra mile. A special thanks to Sumo for translating our ambition into this unique artistic design to mark 10 years of GSK Stockmann in Luxembourg.”
